Catalyst, Orlando’s premier skate shop, and Domain Premium Apparel teamed up on Go Skate Day this year and traveled to several skate parks across central Florida to stoke out the local skate scene. Skateboarding | “Ramp it Up” Show Submission
I am really stoked to have been asked by Kick Start My Art to submit a photo for the upcoming Ramp it Up Skateboard-Themed Art Show at the Polk Museum of Art on April 26th in Lakeland, Florida. I chose this image because Lakeland, Florida is home to probably the best skatepark in the southeastern United States, and also because it represents the elements of the modern era of skateparks. The best skateparks today include a very diverse offering of terrain, and as a result the generation of kids growing up skating these parks have very diverse skill sets. The snake-run in this photo is a design element that was prevalent in skateparks in the 1970’s. A few minor, modern tweaks and Ashton Dohany is blasting head-high frontside airs out of it.
